I see spiritual direction as a special time set aside to meet with a person who treasures their devotion to God, wants to nourish their relationship with Jesus, and is searching for the way the Holy Spirit is moving in their life. However, the term ‘spiritual direction’ can be a misnomer and can cause some confusion. As yourspiritual director, I wouldn’t actually direct you in your spiritual life, unless you asked me specific questions. Both the director and directee come together to listen for the promptings of the Holy Spirit. Each relationship with God is as unique as that person, and ultimately it is the directee’s choice in how you live out your faith.
I’ve been practicing spiritual direction since 2017, and my directees have included women and men from all age groups, with Catholics and other Christian denominations, members of the LGBTQ community, and, since 2024, men incarcerated on death row in North Carolina and Louisiana. I am founder and director of Catholics for Abolition in North Carolina. The pastoral care of these men is part of our mission.
I am humbled by the beauty of spiritual direction and how the Holy Spirit works between us in our time together. You will find yourself growing in your relationship with God, through new seasons of your life, and I hope to be the companion to accompany you in finding your own unique Way.
I am an Ignatian-trained spiritual director. Completing the Spiritual Exercisesbrought about a profound change in my relationship with God. Starting in Spring 2020, I now offer a one-on-one 12-Week Ignatian Retreat in Everyday Life, Finding Christ in the World (by Joseph Tetlow, SJ). I have also been a group spiritual direction mentor with Shalem Institute, where I trained as a Contemplative Prayer & Retreat Leader.
