FAQ's
VIA is a monthly parish-wide session sponsored by the office of Justice & Peace to engage parishioners around Franciscan values as we put our faith into action. Each session will highlight a Franciscan value (e.g. peace, simplicity) as well as a parish effort engaged with service, justice, or peace. There will be a meal, fellowship, table discussion, prayer, and a sending–forth for action in our world.
Connections and fellowship
Engagement in service, social justice, and peace in line with St. Francis of Assisi
Faith Reflection
- Gather parishioners interested in service, peace, and justice.
- Build community: eat, learn, pray, act.
- Reflect on experiences of God in our ministry involvement and our Franciscan identity
- Form for advocacy
- Send forth for mission
We will begin with food and fellowship. After an opening prayer, there will be a theological/spiritual introduction of the Franciscan value and some exploration of why that value is important for Franciscans and the ministry being highlighted. Then we will have table discussions and listen to each other using some suggested questions for reflection. We will conclude with a suggested advocacy action and a closing prayer.
YOU!
This is an exciting intergenerational initiative that we hope will engage everyone from teens to our seniors. People from all walks of church and school life are welcome to come, meet some new people, and reflect individually and together on how we experience God in “faith in action.”
