Columbarium Attendants are dedicated volunteers who assist in the reverent preparation of columbarium niches for the interment of cremated remains following a funeral liturgy. Responsibilities include setting out necessary supplies, carefully opening and cleaning the niche, and standing respectfully in attendance while the niche remains open. Following the service, the attendant replaces the granite cover with care and solemnity. Volunteers serving in this role must be physically able to lift and secure the granite cover, which weighs approximately 60 pounds. This ministry requires a respectful presence, attention to detail, and a deep sense of reverence for the sacredness of the task.
