Morocco, with Franciscan Missionary Union
When: June 24-July 3, 2018
Join our pastor Fr. Steve Patti, OFM, and Associate Director of the Franciscan Missionary Union Br. Paul O’Keeffe, OFM, for this unique opportunity to walk in the footsteps of St. Francis of Assisi in a cultural and religious awareness mission trip to Morocco. This trip will immerse participants in a Franciscan ministry of presence and interfaith dialogue and expose participants to the faith and practices of Islam in its historical and contemporary expressions, from the early Arab conquest to modern Moroccan society. It will also include a look at the work of the Franciscan Friars in Morocco, including their work with migrants and in the field of interreligious dialogue. Cities to be visited include: Casablanca, Rabat, Meknes, Fes, Midelt, and Marrakech.
This trip is targeting active, contributing members of the parish who desire a prayerful and reflective immersion into another culture, seek greater awareness of Islam, and look to grow in a Franciscan understanding of current social issues.
