2022-2023 FAITH FORMATION REGISTRATION IS OPEN NOW!
CROSS STEP (formerly known as Play & Pray) is St. Francis of Assisi’s newest addition to its family of Cross faith formation programs.
Cross Step’s mission is to the faith formation of children who are 1 year old (and walking) through 4 years old. Held during the 9:00AM Sunday mass, your child will learn about the Gospel and participate in fun, hand-on learning activities that are focused on Catholic doctrine and traditions. Using Pflaum’s Gospel Weeklies’ “Seeds” curriculum, Cross Step will help your child take their first STEPS in their lifelong walk with God!
Annual registration and weekly RSVP through your family’s Realm account is required for participation. Sessions are held every Sunday, with the exception of holiday weekends.

2022-2023 K-12 Faith Formation Program
Cross Walk occurs immediately after the 9:00am Mass on Sunday mornings with a breaking open of treasures of the faith that were just proclaimed. Children hear a 15 minute “proclaim” in the Church presented by a dynamic speaker who challenges the m to put their faith into action by living the Word heard at Mass. Just as the USCCB’s National Directory for Catechesis says, “Catechesis both precedes the Liturgy and springs from it.”
Children then break out into small groups of approximately 10 children in the same grade level. While in small groups, adult volunteer leaders build trusting relationships through prayer, games, hands-on activities, discussion on Catholic teachings, and service projects. The session ends with prayer and presentation of their mission for the week followed by a dismissal to glorify the Lord with their lives.
We are reminded that parents are the first formers of their child’s faith and parent participation in Cross Walk celebrates and appreciates this precious vocation! All parents/guardians are invited to serve as volunteers, whether it be co-leading a Small Group or serving as an Adult Presence volunteer.

Cross Train and Cross Road youth participants are encouraged to attend the 5:30 PM youth-focused mass on Sunday evenings. Immediately following mass, Cross Train and Cross Road participants join together for large group activities and a catechetical lesson. After large group discussion, youth participants will break into their small designated small groups, led by adult group leaders, they will break open the week’s lesson and engage in deeper discussion. Meeting in a small groups helps youth build relationships with others in their group thereby creating a sense of community. Once Small Groups have concluded, participants gather together again as a large group for prayer and large group discussion, followed by dismissal. In addition to Sunday evening youth group sessions, Cross Road and Cross Train participants are provided with opportunities to participate in retreats, socials and service projects.
Participation in Cross Train and Cross Road will strengthen your child’s faith and help deepen their relationship with Christ and one another.
