St. Francis of Assisi’s Faith Formation consists of three groups:

  • Cross Walk (Rising Kindergarten–5th Grade Students)
  • Cross Train(Rising 6th–9th Grade Students)
  • Cross Road (Rising 9th–12th Grade Students)

All three programs are designed to make your child feel “at home” while attending faith formation classes.  St. Francis is a safe place where your child can have fun and be themselves while knowing they are valued members of our community and loved by God!

All of our groups consist of small, group-based models and are centered on the Sunday masses.

  • Cross Walk meets immediately after the 9:00AM mass
  • Cross Train and Cross Road meet immediately after 5:30PM mass.

Sessions are approximately twice per month from September through May (schedules TBD).

Our groups offer monthly family events, retreats and ample social time, designed to provide your child with opportunities to grow in faith with their families and their peers.

2022-2023 K-12 Faith Formation Program

Cross Walk occurs immediately after the 9:00am Mass on Sunday mornings with a breaking open of treasures of the faith that were just proclaimed.  Children hear a 15 minute “proclaim” in the Church presented by a dynamic speaker who challenges the m to put their faith into action by living the Word heard at Mass.  Just as the USCCB’s National Directory for Catechesis says, “Catechesis both precedes the Liturgy and springs from it.”

Children then break out into small groups of approximately 10 children in the same grade level.  While in small groups, adult volunteer leaders build trusting relationships through prayer, games, hands-on activities, discussion on Catholic teachings, and service projects.  The session ends with prayer and presentation of their mission for the week followed by a dismissal to glorify the Lord with their lives.

We are reminded that parents are the first formers of their child’s faith and parent participation in Cross Walk celebrates and appreciates this precious vocation!  All parents/guardians are invited to serve as volunteers, whether it be co-leading a Small Group or serving as an Adult Presence volunteer.

Cross Train/Cross Road

Cross Train and Cross Road youth and their families are encouraged to attend our youth-focused mass at 5:30PM on Sunday evenings.  Immediately following mass, Cross Train and Cross Road participants join together in small groups for snacks and share fellowship and social time with their peers.  Each session includes large group activities as well as a catechetical lesson.  After the large group meets, participants break into their small groups, led by adult group leaders.  While in small groups, they will break open the lesson and engage in discussion of the content.  Small groups allow participants to build relationships and nurture a sense of community within the small groups.  Once Small Groups have concluded, participants all gather together as a large group for prayer, their mission for the week, and dismissal.

In addition to meeting twice per month Sunday evening Cross Train/Cross Road sessions, participants are given opportunities to attend socials, retreats and participate in service projects designed to build on the teachings presented.

Sign your child up for Cross Train or Cross Road today and watch as they grow in a deeper relationship with Christ and with one another!

Parent/Guardian Volunteer Requirements:  We rely on adult volunteers for our programs’ success.  Don’t worry–you don’t have to know everything about Catholicism in order to serve as a volunteer!

To ensure the safety and efficacy of our programs, we ask that each family volunteer to help during 3 or more Cross Walk, Cross Train/Road sessions.  Volunteers are needed to provide Hospitality support and to supply Adult Presence in and around the groups’ meeting areas.
