Faith Formation K-12

Meeting, knowing, loving, and serving Christ

Our Cross Walk, Cross Train and Cross Road programs are designed to make our youth/children feel “at home” at St. Francis, a place where they can have fun and be themselves, while knowing that they are valued and loved by God!

  • Small group-based model
  • Centered on the Sunday mass, 9am mass (K-5), 5:30pm mass (6-12)
  • Meet twice per month, September through May
  • Offer fellowship in a fun, safe environment
  • Include monthly Family events, youth retreats and socials to build relationships
  • Encourage and provide opportunities where families can grow together in faith.

For the 2021-2022 school year, we are offering a home-based faith formation program for grades K-5 only.

K-12 Program Information

Cross Walk

Cross Walk is scheduled after the 9:00am* Mass to break open treasures of the faith that have just been proclaimed. After the conclusion of the Mass, children hear a 15 minute “proclaim” in the Church. This is presented by a dynamic speaker who challenges children to put their faith into action by living the Word that the Church heard at Mass. Just as the USCCB’s National Directory for Catechisis says, “Cathechesis both precedes the Liturgy and springs from it.”

Children then break out into small groups of approximately 10 children of the same grade. While in their small group, adult volunteer leaders build trusting relationships through prayer, games, hands-on activities, discussion on Catholic teachings, and service projects. Finally, the session ends with prayer, a presentation of their mission for the week, and dismissal to glorify the Lord with their lives.

We are reminded that parents are the first formers of their child’s faith and parent participation in Cross Walk celebrates and appreciates this precious vocation! All parents/guardians are invited to serve as volunteers through co-leading a Small Group or serving as an Adult Presence volunteer.

*Please note that the 9:30am mass will be changing to 9:00am effective 8/15/2021.

Cross Train/Cross Road

Youth and their families are encouraged to attend the Sunday 5:30pm youth-focused Mass. After Mass, middle and high school youth join together in small groups for dinner and social fellowship time with peers. Next, youth participate in the evening session which includes large group activities, as well as a catechetical lesson. Led by adult leaders, youth will break open the lesson while building relationships and a sense of community within their small group. Finally, everyone will gather back in the large group for prayer, their mission for the week, and dismissal.

In addition to our twice per month Sunday Cross Train/Cross Road sessions, youth are invited to socials, retreats and service opportunities to build upon the teachings presented each week. Join us today and grow in a deeper relationship with Christ and one another!
