Adult Formation

The Adult Community includes men and women who come together to share with each other, grow in their faith, find fellowship, and serve others. We build community by organizing a variety of social, spiritual and service events throughout the year. Whether single, married, discerning, widowed, divorced, with or without children – everyone can find a home in our community.

The Women’s Ministry at St. Francis offers the women of the parish a place where they can deepen their relationship with God through prayer and reflection at retreats and spiritual events. We also experience the living Christ in fellowship with one another through social events and community service. The group hosts events monthly, some of which include: Yoga & Breakfast, retreats, art experiences, interactive prayer services, and social gatherings. Bible study and book opportunities are available weekly.

The Men’s Prayer Breakfast meets in person in the Community Center, Padua Room every 1st and 3rd Mondays from 8 to 9 am. The meetings provide a way for men to come together for fellowship. For discussions, we select a book that deals with faith and life issues. See Men’s Prayer Breakfast on Realm for meeting details. The Assisi Scripture Study program was founded in 2003 by Rich Zemonek, MPS and Deacon Pat McIlmoyle (Our Lady of the Rosary, Louisburg). Rich and Pat were passionate about the need for quality bible study true to Catholic biblical teachings, practical and applicable to everyday life and reflected Franciscan charism and spirituality. The courses cater to all levels of understanding, those new to scripture study to a more advanced understanding. The study currently utilizes two Catholic biblical study programs from Ascension Press and Little Rock Scripture Study (newly updated materials).

Scripture study courses offered throughout the year both during the day and in the evening by knowledgeable facilitators trained to make the study meaningful, informative, non-stressful and enjoyable. Courses typically range from 5 to 15 weeks, give or take, once a week for an hour and a half. Participants can either attend in-person at St. Francis or online via Zoom.

Registration completed through Realm. Individuals purchase their own materials through Amazon or directly through Liturgical Press.

LITTLE ROCK SCRIPTURE STUDY – VIRTUAL Adult Co-ed Bible Study held via Microsoft Teams.  Several bible studies scheduled throughout the year on

Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning. Links to the study materials, video lectures, and Microsoft Teams provided before each session.

Presenters of the video lectures are religious educators from all over the country who specialize in the subject. Study discussions are comprehensive and enlightening and are representative of both clergy and laity men and women. Each session closes with participants’ prayer intentions and The Lord’s Prayer.

Quite often, study participants join in fellowship after the final study session for a lunch at a nearby restaurant.

Participants register through Realm and purchase materials directly from Amazon or Liturgical Press.

The trained co-facilitators of these studies are volunteers from our parish who have participated previously in Little Rock Scripture Studies.

Facilitators encourage study participants to engage in judgment-free discussions and ensure discussions remain on topic and on time.

Co-Facilitators of the group, who are also active learners in the group, are Cindy Cardello, cjcardello@yahoo.com, Barbara Efird, barbaraefirdLPC@gmail.com and Diane Rosendahl, sunshine27519@gmail.com.

The forum meets to discuss books, to ask questions, and to support one another in our mutual discovery and appreciation of our common home. We affirm with Pope Francis in Laudato Si that the mystery of nature reveals the divine, that the Spirit is active in creation, that each creature has its own purpose, and that the universe unfolds in God who fills it completely. We meet every 1st and 3rd Wednesdays from 1 to 2:30 pm.

Leaders: Stephen Andrews, Ronald Monti
