A post-Christmas thank you to everyonewho helped to make our Christmas Masses go so well – to all who helped decorate the church, and to all who helped serve the nine Masses (in the span of 20 hours!). Friends of mine in the north are astounded to find out that we have between 8,000-10,000 people attending our Christmas liturgies. These days of Christmas are beautiful days, with the magnificent tree (graciously donated by a generous parishioner) in the church, and it’s especially beautiful when lit up at night.
A special note that this Friday, January 3rd, the friars of Holy Name Province, of which we friars here at St. Francis are a part, will participate in a video conference in which the friars of our province will learn which of our 30 provincial ministries we will stay in, and which we will withdraw from. As noted in this space before, Holy Name Province, based on the East Coast of the United States, is in the process of merging with five other U.S. provinces, and as part of that process, each of the U.S. Six are in the process of discerning how many ministry sites we are able to stay in, based on the number of friars. We will let you know what we hear next weekend.
Blessings on your week!
