In this month that we celebrate our patron saint Francis of Assisi, the following is a bold statement from the six provincial ministers of the U.S. Franciscan provinces. As you read it, you may agree with it, or you may disagree with it, but its words move beyond any domesticated image of St. Francis we might have, beyond any image of him as a benign saint of the backyard birdbath, and reveal him as a prophetic and challenging figure for his own time, and for our time as well.
One quick reminder: This coming Thursday evening, October 25 at 7:00pm in Anthony Hall Founders Room, we will host a session updating the parish on news from the diocese about the clerical abuse situation. All are welcome. Also, on Friday, October 26, our entire staff will take part in our annual fall staff
service day. This is a beautiful day in which our staff goes out into the community for a variety of different service projects, comes back and has lunch together, and then shares what we learned.
