A couple of nice things to report from the past few weeks – one is that a teacher from our school, Bea Jimenez, was recently announced as the winner of the Msgr. Gerald Lewis Award for Teaching Excellence. This is a diocesan-wide award that is given every year to one teacher within the Diocese of Raleigh. Bea teaches Spanish at our school. Bishop Zarama was here a few weeks back for a mass in which Bea was recognized and last Saturday evening there was a dinner in her honor at the City Club in downtown Raleigh. Congratulations to Bea – and a reminder as well that there are openings in both our school and preschool for the upcoming academic year.
Another nice thing to report is that we received an email from Our Lady of the Rosary church in Louisburg letting us know that St. Francis collected 720 bags of food in our recent food drive for the OLOR food pantry. We estimate 720 bags equals about 6,000 pounds of food collected. Our Lady of the Rosary is a rural parish about 40 miles from St. Francis, north on Route 401 and their food pantry relies so much on the generosity of our parish. Many thanks to all who contributed!
Finally, the 2018 Bishop’s Annual Appeal – you’ve been hearing updates and we are drawing closer to our goal. You can still make a pledge if you have not yet made one.
