This is the last weekend of our food drive for Catholic Parish Outreach. Last weekend I visited the CPO truck which was in our parking lot and watched as cars pulled up and people got out to deliver bags of groceries. Inside the truck were bins filled with canned food, rice, cereal, diapers, and other items. After one mass a family was at the truck receiving the bags and sorting the food, and the family’s seven-year-old and four-year-old were in the truck helping to sort. I can imagine that later in life those two children will always remember they were part of a gospel project of helping to provide food for those who need it. After every food drive, we receive a note from Catholic Parish Outreach thanking St. Francis for its generosity – we are one of the largest providers of food for CPO.
Remember that this is the last weekend we can accept donations for CPO – the truck leaves on Monday morning. Thanks to all for your generosity!
Please remember as well that we are in the middle of the 2017 Bishop’s Annual Appeal and as always we rely on your generosity for that. We sometimes think that St. Francis exists separately from the Diocese of Raleigh but that is not true at all. St. Francis is a parish that is part of the Diocese of Raleigh and we friars serve at the will of the bishop. It is therefore extremely important that we do all we can to reach our goal of $511,000. Please note as well that many of our staff rely on and work together with staff from the Diocese. We are partners.
Blessings on your week!
