I’d like to say thank you to all who have responded to our letter asking for contributions toward the new siding on the friary. We expect to begin that work sometime in the new year. Also, an update on last year’s letter which asked for contributions toward new signage for our Leesville Road frontage. These new signs will be located at two entranceways: one near the preschool and community center, and the other near the athletic fields. For the sign near the entranceway by the preschool/community center, we need to receive a variance from the city for the sign to be higher than the standard height. This is because there is a utility box that would block the view of the sign from the street. We expect to hear the results of the variance hearing soon, and hope to begin installing the signs as soon as possible afterwards. Thank you again for your generosity.
A few people have recently asked about what to say when receiving communion during mass. At communion, the Eucharistic minister holds either the bread or the wine before the person receiving, and says “The Body of Christ” or “The Blood of Christ.” The way to respond to this is to bow slightly, and simply say “Amen.” That response “Amen” means “yes, let it be so, let me live my life in a way that reflects the mercy and peace of Christ.”
Advent blessings and peace to all as we move through these beautiful days of watching and waiting for the birth of the Christ child!
