Dear Brothers and Sisters,
In March, I shared with you the news of the retirement of Ben Whitehouse, who had served as Director of Operations for the past 8 years. In this capacity, Ben was both the Chief Operations Officer and the Chief Financial Officer of the parish. Since Ben’s retirement, Tom Mense, a member of the finance council, has led a task force which studied the needs of the parish in light of overall parish growth during the past 32 years and especially during the past 10 years. As a result of this study, I have accepted the recommendation of the task force to create two separate positions – Director of Operations (COO) and Director of Finance and Planning (CFO). Marc Kielty has been serving as interim Director of Operations and will continue in this role, overseeing the day to day operations of our facilities. We seek a qualified and committed person to fill the new position of Director of Finance and Planning. The new director will oversee the financial aspects of the parish including the preschool, elementary and middle schools, and columbarium. This position will also provide leadership on our strategic and financial planning for the future. An ad for this position can be found on page 10 of this bulletin. While it may appear that we’re adding a new position to the staff, we are not, since the position of Coordinator of Ministry Support (Marc Kielty’s former position) has been eliminated.
I am grateful for the service of two longtime leaders in our evangelization ministries, Maureen Leahy and Gladys Whitehouse. Maureen and Gladys have each faithfully served our parish for more than a decade supporting parents, children, and families of all definitions and welcoming with joy those who seek to learn more about the richness of our Catholic faith. Both will retire at the end of June. I have accepted the recommendation of Jules Weber, Assistant Principal and Director of Formation and Evangelization, to re-craft these two positions to better serve the needs of families under her capable leadership. Utilizing the successful small group model of Youth Ministry, Jenn Fiduccia will become the Coordinator of Family Formation. In addition to Jenn, we will seek a new Coordinator of Family Formation-Youth and a Coordinator of Family Formation-Children. The ads for these positions are also included on page 10. This re-crafting of positions will allow us to continue to grow our programs in supporting parents as the first teachers of their children in the ways of faith.
In the month of June, I look forward to a retirement celebration at Mass for these faithful stewards of our parish, Ben, Gladys and Maureen.
In the peace of Christ,
