Do you remember your wedding reception? My wife and I had a great celebration, from the setting – a dinner theater converted to a reception hall – to the food to the music, it was a party that is even now remembered by my extended family as one of the best they’ve ever attended. So much fun! Yet my wife and I knew that this one celebration wouldn’t encapsulate all of our marriage, and that there would be (and definitely have been) times that are not nearly so much fun. Conflicting interests around time, energy, and budgeting have brought about many hard conversations. Through them all, two things from our marriage preparation continued to stand out: that being good communicators with each other, and making time to remember and celebrate why we entered into this sacrament have helped us to keep our marriage joyful and grace-filled.
I’d like to invite the married couples of our community to join us on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2013, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm for a marriage enrichment date night, “An Evening for Busy Couples”. The evening will have short presentations and time for conversation, and is a great way to begin the season of Lent by focusing our attention on our spouses and the wonderful gift we have in each other. The event will be led by John and Teri Bosio, who are the creators of the “Great Dates” series we provide each fall. John Bosio is also the author of “Blessed is Marriage: A Guide to the Beatitudes for Catholic Couples” and “Happy Together: The Catholic Blueprint for a Loving Marriage”.
