Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Today we begin the season of Advent. Congratulations to the many from our parish beginning or continuing their faith journey through this Advent season by participating in a Small Christian Community – a wonderful way to prepare for the coming of the Lord in our lives. With a new liturgical year, we also begin cycle C with the gospel of Luke. The message of Luke’s gospel is that salvation is for all, God cares for the poor, and God’s care and mercy is wonderfully shown though the life and ministry of Jesus. Luke’s gospel, in its gentleness and imagery is nevertheless a gospel of challenge. We are to live as Jesus. We are to journey as Jesus: toward Jerusalem and the cross; toward new; risen life.
As the days continue to grow shorter, we yearn for Christ as the light of the world. We move from darkness to light as we become ever more aware of the presence and grace of Christ. A wonderful way of renewing and celebrating the light of Christ is through the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Several communal celebrations of Reconciliation/ Penance will be offered. Our communal celebration gives us time as a parish community to pray together and to name what is in need of healing in our lives and in our world as we together seek reconciliation with God and with one another.
Our schedule for the sacrament of Reconciliation is:
Sunday, December 9, at 7:00 pm,
geared for the youth of the parish (yet open to all).
Monday, December 10, at 7:00 pm.
Wednesday, December 12, at 11:00 am,
geared for the seniors (yet open to all).
In the peace of Christ,
