St. Francis of Assisi Stewards
A message from Fr. Mark
Recently, the pastoral council introduced a revised mission for our parish community in which “inspired by our patron Francis of Assisi, we seek to proclaim the reign of God”. One of the ways in which we do this is by growing in holiness at all ages. The St. Francis Preschool, Franciscan elementary and middle school, and our partnership with Cardinal Gibbons provide a wonderful foundation for our children and youth. Our Catholic schools are one of the strongest and most inclusive ways in which we partner with parents to pass on the teachings of our faith, to foster community, to encourage worship and prayer, and to inspire service to others. Thank you for the sacrifices that this partnership requires and for your commitment to your children and our parish.
One way in which the St. Francis parish community works to build God’s reign is by subsidizing the tuition costs for each child attending one of our Catholic schools (hence the reason for the different tuition rates). Please do your best to offset this subsidy with contributions to our parish offertory. It is a question of justice that those who receive the parish steward tuition rate do their best to support our parish with their time, talent, and treasure.
As you prepare to register for the 2013-2014 school year in one or more of our parish-supported schools, please spend some time as a family reflecting on your stewardship here at St. Francis. Then complete the St. Francis Family Stewardship Form, required for those who wish to be considered for the parish steward tuition rate.
