The Catholic Community of Saint Francis of Assisi Child and Youth Protection
St. Francis of Assisi complies with the Safe Environment program mandated by the US Conference of Bishops, through the Diocese on down to the parish.
There are 2 components of the Safe Environment Program:
VOLUNTEER SCREENING
- St. Francis of Assisi screens ALL volunteers
- Your screening will be renewed every 5 years
- Your screening is valid across all ministries of St. Francis, including TFS and ECLC.
The following are the volunteer levels at St. Francis and a link to their respective volunteer application forms. Contact your ministry leader to understand what level you should be.
Minor: Volunteer under the age of 18. Download form.
Level O: Volunteer with no youth contact. Download form.
Level A: Remote or occasional youth contact. Download form.
Level B: Supervised interaction with youth. Download form.
- References will be checked
- "Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse" class is mandatory
- Application takes approximately 1 week to process
Level C: Unsupervised interaction with youth. Download form.
- References will be checked
- Background check will be performed by Diocese
- "Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse" class is mandatory
- Application takes approximately 1-2 weeks to process
"RECOGNIZING & REPORTING CHILD ABUSE" TRAINING
- Class is produced by Prevent Child Abuse North Carolina
- All ‘B’ and ‘C’ Level volunteers are REQUIRED to take this class
- Retraining will occur every 5 years
- Your training is valid across the Diocese
- Schedule of classes
