Novena for Peace

In light of the recent violence in Louisiana, Minnesota, Texas, and other places throughout our country and the world, we are joining with our Bishop, the Knights of Columbus, and Catholics throughout our country in offering a Novena for Peace during the period, July 14-22, 2016. At the heart of the Novena is the simple “Peace Prayer.”

For the next nine days, we encourage you to lead your family in this prayer:

Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace; Where there is hatred, let me sow love; Where there is injury, pardon; Where there is error, truth; Where there is doubt, faith; Where there is despair, hope; Where there is darkness, light; And where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console; To be understood, as to understand; To be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; It is in pardoning that we are pardoned; And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.

At all masses this weekend, we will offer a petition for peace in a world marked by anxiety, fear, and violence.

Additionally, on August 2nd, at 7pm in St. Mary’s Chapel, we will host an Evening of Prayer for Peace – “Make Me an Instrument of Peace.” Join the friars and faithful everywhere in lifting our voices in praise, solidarity, and hope.

Best,
