SESSION OVERVIEW
Faith Formation Small Group Meetings:
These sessions for Middle School youth are intended to bring them together by grade level and provide a setting for Faith Formation among peers. Volunteer catechists guide the youth using the St. Mary’s Press Discovering series. Small group experience is supplemented by large group and social gatherings, retreats, and service opportunities planned specifically for middle school youth. This program is open to all youth of our parish. These sessions are held on Sunday evenings from 6:45 to 8:15 PM in Jacoba Hall according the annual calendar.
Service Opportunities:
These projects involve our youth in social analysis as well as community service. We are asked to serve our community and our fellow people as Christians—but we must also ask and discuss the questions about who is poor and who does not get treated with dignity and respect. We must discern what we as Catholic youth can do about it as we begin the journey to become adult members of society. This program features monthly service project, including “Teens Fall Out” in October and a summer Mission Trip. A summer social mercy day camp is also planned.
Large Group Gatherings:
Youth Nights offer fun activity-based faith sharing among peers and youth listening and discussion sessions based around a particular topic. A few of this year’s topics are dignity, hunger, reconciliation, friendship, and media. All adolescents are expected to attend as part of the program.
Diocesan Retreats:
The Diocese of Raleigh offers two retreats to bring together our Middle School youth from all 100 churches in the diocese. Dates for these events, including Challenge and Jamboree, are listed on the annual calendar. Registration information will be available on this site closer to the event.
