Our mission is to assist communities in the Gulf Region in their recovery efforts following the devastating damage from Hurricane Katrina. We do so by organizing and sending multiple delegations to hard-hit regions – lending time, talent, and treasure.
Working under the auspices and guidance of Operation Helping Hands (a program of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New Orleans), St. Francis delegates assist in the cleaning and rebuilding of affected homes, usually working side-by-side with the homeowners so that they can eventually return to their homes and neighborhoods.
Upcoming delegations: We are organizing two delegations of 15 people each to travel to Biloxi, Mississippi, to work with the Hurricane Katrina recovery efforts. The dates are March 31 to April 4 and April 14 to 18, 2008. If you can dedicate four or more days to help in this effort, please consider joining one of these delegations. We will be working under the guidance of the Diocesan Offices of Long Term Recovery (http://www.mshurricanehelp.org/) of the Archdiocese of Biloxi. The Offices of Long Term Recovery will provide housing, food, materials, and work supervision while in Biloxi.
