Trevor is currently serving as the Director of Justice & Peace at St. Francis of Assisi. This includes coordination of all parish outreach programs, mission trips, formation programs related to Catholic Social Teaching, community organizing, and advocacy. In whatever he does, he hopes to invite people into opportunities that enlarge their compassion and solidarity towards others and live a life of truth, beauty, and meaning in our world today. He loves hearing people’s stories of faith and walking with them on a journey of growing closer to God and the church. Trevor also feels that there’s something immensely compelling by the witness of St. Francis of Assisi and the Franciscan tradition. At the heart of this Franciscan spirit is a sense that contemplative communion with God in prayer and liturgy is deeply connected to the call to be salt and light, a people of solidarity and mission. This Franciscan impulse also believes that all of God’s creation – all of life – is a gift and constantly revelatory.

Besides doing a variety of ministry in the church for almost 20 years, Trevor has also taught English and Religion at a high school in Ohio and at a university in New York. Prior to moving to North Carolina, he served as a director of a community soup kitchen and a campus minister in New York. He finished a graduate degree in Franciscan Spirituality from The Franciscan Institute at St. Bonaventure University in 2004. In 2017, Trevor completed his Doctor of Ministry from Duke Divinity School at Duke University. Trevor wrote his dissertation on Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato si’ entitled, “PROBING LAUDATO SI’ FOR A NEW SPIRITUALITY IN A TECHNOCRATIC CULTURE.”

Trevor was born in California but moved over twenty times before graduating high school. His high school years were spent overseas in Germany and South Korea. Currently, Trevor makes his home with his family (4 kids, a flock of chickens, two pigs, and a couple bee hives) in rural Chatham County. His passions revolve around tending his animals and gardens, brewing beer, reading and writing, painting, cooking, hunting, and running.

Becky is a veteran minister in social outreach ministry, working with youth, and facilitating programs and reflections around the Church’s teaching on social justice issues. Becky worshiped at St. Francis in the 80s and 90s but moved away until 2014 when she returned to North Carolina with her family. As part of her exploration of faith and social justice, Becky completed a Masters degree in Theological Studies from Jesuit-run St. Louis University in 2001. She has also been active in the JustFaith and Engaging Spirituality programs as a participant and facilitator. At her last parish in Melbourne, Florida, Becky worked on the parish staff as Youth Minister for Advocacy and Justice.  What brings Becky great joy is inspiring and engaging parishioners in the slow work of justice and peace and then walking with them as this reality unfolds in their lives.

In her role in the Justice and Peace Office, Becky manages the communications of the office through our Web presence, articles and other social media; develops and facilitates some social justice programs; and collaborates with other parish ministries, especially youth, to integrate justice and peace into the overall mission of the parish.
