Welcome
INTER-FAITH FOOD SHUTTLE

Our mission:  In the belief that hunger is unacceptable and can be alleviated, the mission of the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle is to develop systems to recover, prepare and distribute wholesome, perishable food for the area’s poor, hungry, undernourished and homeless.

The Inter-Faith Food Shuttle also operates a culinary job training program taught by an executive chef to train low wealth people in culinary skills to help them secure a food service job that pays a living wage. The students also prepare food that is served in local soup kitchens as part of their training.  Volunteers are sometimes needed to teach a hands-on class about preparing certain dishes, human relation skills, interviewing skills etc. to help students succeed in their new jobs.

Volunteers can pack and deliver grocery bags for the elderly. They can also organize food drives for Backpack Buddies a program that provides a backpack of food for over the weekends for children that are at risk of hunger. Drivers and assistants are needed to pickup good leftover food and deliver it to pantries like Catholic Parish Outreach, soup kitchens or other agencies who serve the hungry. Food sorters or gleaners are also needed in the warehouse. Volunteers for during the week are usually in high demand. Individuals and groups are needed depending on the need at the time.
