The Health Care Team takes their lead from the Gospel imperative captures in Luke 10.9: “…go, heal the sick, and tell them the Kingdom of God has come near to them.” We seek to advocate a just, equitable, and sustainable healthcare system which is attentive to the needs of the most vulnerable – not just those who can afford access and attention. As a group of healthcare practitioners and concerned laypeople, we are working to continue the legacy of St. Francis care for the indigent leper by advocating a system were ‘everyone is in and no one is out.’
We have many resources available on our advocacy website. For instance, we have a whole section on background information and church teaching which will help you get your bearings on the issue – and understand why we have taken the position we have taken. You may also be interested in our Frequently Asked Questions, which address issues we are commonly confronted with in conversations about this contentious issue.
Additional information can be found on our “Resources” page, which contains links to our partners, publications, and related links.
If you are still looking for more information or still have unanswered questions, we would encourage you to contact Karen O’Donnell at 848-3183 or Sarah Hoffman at 870-0978. You may also contact the Coalition staff at any time. To do so, click here.
If you are interested in joining our efforts, we would be overjoyed to have you be a part of the team! We meet regularly as a team to discuss recent developments in legislation and strategize avenues for advocacy. Those meetings - including date, time, and location - are listed here.
