Our mission is to serve as a partner with Wake County Habitat for Humanity. This year we participated in Habitat's Apostles Build for the second time. Apostle's Build is a partnership that allows thirteen individual Raleigh-area churches to join together and fully fund and build a house for a local deserving family. As Jesus' original apostles were charged with spreading the word about Jesus, these thirteen churches are charged with assisting in Habitat's mission to provide decent shelter for God's children.
The Habitat Ministry completed the last Apostles Build project with the dedication of a new home for the Rcom/Rmah family on May 9, 2009. This project, along with the thirteen other churches, included the hard work of 64 St. Francis parishioners who volunteered 584 hours of their time on 12 workdays. It was an amazing experience to help this refugee family realize the dream of owning a home. We are in the process of completing the current Apostle Build project whose groundbreaking took place on September 19, 2009.
