In the Beginning…Gift Logo II

The Catholic Community of St. Francis of Assisi, inspired by the dream of a few families in 1982, has witnessed a tremendous transformation. From its early beginning in the woods of Leesville Road to the dynamic and growing faith community it is today, the Catholic Community of St. Francis of Assisi remains committed to its mission to, “welcome with joy all those who come to us and invite them into the life of our community.”    The realization of this commitment to meet not only the needs of our parish family today but also to provide for the future needs of tomorrow, directed the launch of the Growing In Faith Together (GIFT) building campaign in 2006.

These prioritized needs dictated the building initiatives – initiatives that continue to encourage and empower us to be a welcoming community, provide a physical home to social justice outreach, foster parish vitality by sharing our faith, create smaller spaces for listening to God, and grow in faith together.

Through the generosity of our parish families, we will soon witness the completion of the current construction phase: St. Francis of Assisi Preschool, the Assisi Community Center and St. Mary of the Angels Chapel.

Next Phase…

In order to continue in service to our growing parish, it is essential that we continue to embrace our mission with great enthusiasm and respond to the real and urgent needs of our faith community, to “bear witness to those who do not know Christ, by living our faith and spreading the good news.”

The next phase envisioned in the GIFT Campaign addresses the lifelong faith formation and educational needs of our parish. With your generosity, the Siena Center for Lifelong Learning will be built to provide a ‘home’ for the education and evangelization ministries. Serving as the hub for these ministries, educational programs will continue to strive to nurture a lifelong love of learning, offer a strong sense of self worth and infuse an active social conscience. The Siena Center for Lifelong Learning will serve as The Franciscan School’s Middle School during the day; in the evenings and on weekends, it will serve as the center for lifelong faith formation, sacramental preparation sessions at the same time, provide meeting space for adult ministries.
