"And God saw everything he had made, and behold, it was good"
(cf. Gen, 3:17-19; 4:12)
We seek to grow in a Franciscan spirituality of the earth, recognizing the incarnate Christ in all of creation. We see ourselves in mutual relationship with God, one another, all living beings, the earth itself, and the entire cosmos. We recognize that our compulsive greed and chronic indifference are the greatest obstacles to a healthy relationship with Creation. As followers of St. Francis, the patron saint of ecology, we seek to better understand the role of the environment in the common good so that we might act justly and wisely.
We invite you join us in study, in contemplation, in taking action toward spiritual and cultural transformation.

Earthworms
November 12 at 7:00 pm in Jacoba Hall
St. Francis believed all creatures reflect the presence of God... even earthworms. You are invited to join Brian Rosa, Organics Specialist, to learn how earthworms contribute to the ecosystem and how they can digest your family’s food waste and convert it to a valuable soil amendment for your house plants or home gardens. The first 20 households that pre-register and attend the presentation will receive a population of worms and a worm bin for their home. For more information or to preregister, please call Larry Petrovick at 782-3824. Sponsored by St. Francis of Assisi Franciscan Caretakers of Creation.

"The world's present and future depend on the safeguarding of creation because of the endless interde-pendence between human beings and their environment."
~Pope John Paul II, 1999 World Day of Peace.
"The whole universe is God's dwelling. Earth, a very small, uniquely blessed cornerof the universe, gifted with natural resources, is humanity's home..."
~Renewing the Earth, USCCB, 1991
