Welcome to Formation!

Check out our upcoming events!

Welcome to the Formation landing page! We look forward to walking with you on your faith journey.

Play and Pray is our faith-based nursery. We accept children age one and walking through age 4. The children attend during either the 9:30am or 11:30am Mass and spend time listening to the Gospel for the week, and then rotating amongst different stations that allow them to learn about our Catholic traditions. The hour is full of fun times and playing and praying. Click here for more information.

Our Cross Walk (grades K-5), Cross Train (grades 6-8) and Cross Road (grades 9-12) programs are group-based faith formation programs for our elementary school, middle school and high school-aged children. The programs are centered on the Mass, offering food and fellowship, in a fun, safe environment, with offerings to fit your family’s busy schedule! Our Sunday Cross Walk, Cross Train and Cross Road sessions meet twice a month, August through May. The Formation Team also offers monthly Family Events and other special events that will help build upon the teachings presented each week and foster opportunities in which the families can grow in faith together.  These gatherings will help to make our children feel “at home” at St. Francis, a place where they can have fun and be themselves, while knowing that they are valued and loved! Looking for Summer Opportunities? Continuing faith formation is a year around goal and St Francis gives those opportunities to the youth in our Vacation Bible School, Mercy Camps, and High School Mission Mercy. We offer faith based summer opportunities for ages pre-k through rising college freshmen.

This year’s Vacation Bible School will spark creativity with interactive experiences as kids travel through rotations that reinforce relevant Bible Points and immerse children in new adventures. This summer, watch as the Fun Factory transforms Saint Francis into a place buzzing with excitement! Open to rising Pre-K (4) thru rising 5th grade, June 26-30. Kindergarten and 3rd Grade camps are FULL, please contact Jennifer.McCourt@stfrancisraleigh.org to be placed on the waitlist.

Our popular Mercy Camp is a social justice camp for Middle School youth and led by our High School Youth. Mercy Camp gives our youth an understanding and appreciation of the Corporal Works of Mercy. By engaging in small and large group activities, prayer, discussion, community outreach and lots of fun, our youth are drawn into fuller participation in the life and work of the Church. Youth will partner with some of our parish ministries and other community ministries. Open to rising 6th grade through rising 9th grade, Week 1: June 12-16 and July 10-14

Following our Franciscan tradition of serving others, High School Mission Mercy Camp participants will have the opportunity to take part in daily service projects, have meaningful prayer experiences, and spend time growing in love lived in service. This weeklong onsite overnight experience will allow teens to dive deeper in their faith by witnessing and working side by side with those who face daily challenges. Open to rising 10th grade through rising college freshmen, July 24-28.

Our Adult Faith Formation community offers several on-going events, including Assisi Scripture Studies and Wednesday Evening Adult Formation Sessions. Click here for more information about on-going events.

The Men’s Ministry was created to offer men the opportunity to minister to one another in the spirit of Christ.  Monthly breakfast meetings provide a frequent way for men to come together in prayer and fellowship, and an annual retreat allows the opportunity to reconnect with God, and be strengthened for your family life and work when you return home. Click here for more information and to sign-up for the Men’s Ministry newsletter.

Join other women of the parish for prayer, fellowship, and Gospel-centered discussion on Wednesday evenings. The Women’s Ministry was created to allow women to challenge, inspire and comfort one another by the stories of faith they share. To sign up or for more information email Jennifer.Fiduccia@stfrancisraleigh.org, or call 919.847.8205 x238

The Young Adult Community includes men and women in their 20s and 30s who come together to share with each other, grow in their faith, find fellowship, and serve others. We build community by organizing a variety of social, spiritual and service events throughout the year, whether single, married, discerning, widowed, divorced, with or without children. Click here for more information.

Our parish community welcomes adults and children into the Church through the Sacrament of Baptism.  Parents of children under the age of 7 are invited to participate in Baptism Preparation and can register online by clicking here. If you’re an adult or have a child 7 years or older, click here for more information.

First Reconciliation is traditionally celebrated when the children reach the age of reason, which traditionally is seven years old. The sacrament is celebrated in late Fall at a communal Reconciliation service with families present. First Eucharist is celebrated in the spring at our weekend Masses with our community. Click here for more information.

Confirmation is a sacrament of mature Christian commitment and  a deepening of baptismal gifts of the Holy Spirit.  Like Baptism and Eucharist, it is a Sacrament of  Initiation and of faith in God’s fidelity to us. Our regular parish program is a two-year process that may begin with entrance to 8th grade. Click here for more information for youth. For Adult Confirmation, click here.

The Sacrament of Marriage celebrates the love of a couple who enter into a covenant with God and one another. Couples planning to be married must make arrangements at least six months before the intended wedding. Click here for more information.
