Realizing her two beautiful babies were headed to school and her gifts of organization and planning were maxed out at home, Tricia found her calling as Coordinator of Community Life. After leaving IBM software project management roles, crossing over into the non-profit world was a natural fit with organizing parish athletics & classes, building the Assisi Café, developing Camp Francis, and acting as social director for parish events. Throw in the balance for family times at the beach or in the backyard with friends, Tricia still enjoys planning the next big family adventure.
Some other fun facts: Tricia’s favorite color is orange. To her the color orange radiates warmth and happiness. It’s brings on optimistic and is uplifting, rejuvenating to the spirit. She has lots of orange in her life … many orange clothes, lots of orange jewelry, a couple orange purses, an orange Jeep, and even an orange room in her house! Ashley has been a part of the St. Francis parish since 1988 when she moved here with her family from Florida. Being only 5 years old when she moved here she has grown up in the St. Francis Community and now she’s excited to raise her son in the same community she grew up in. What began as a part time job in 2010 working for and with her Community quickly developed into a full time career. Ashley is not only organizing and managing the summer camps of Camp Francis, Exercise and Parent Child Classes throughout the year, but now the Coordinator of Community Programs. When Ashley is not at work, she is a busy mom to her 8 year old son Jack! She loves to go on fun outings with him and coach his soccer team. She enjoys scrapbooking in her down time, perhaps while drinking a cold glass of sweet tea or Dr. Pepper!
Some other fun facts… She is one of 4 children and loves to wear flip flops ALL THE TIME!
Mary comes to us from Staten Island, New York, where she was born and raised. For 20 years, Mary worked for the N.Y.C. Police department. Sergeant Mary has been a part of our St. Francis community for four years and joined OUR force here at the Community Center in 2014. Mary is our coordinator for the Athletics program and loves working with the kids! When she is not here, she and her husband, James s run a household full of boys! She has a 17 year old, 13 year old and a 8 year old. They are all very active in sports!

Our Parish Chef, Michelle comes to us from Long Island, New York where she grew up and attended The Culinary Institute! Michelle moved to Raleigh and became a member of St. Francis of Assisi in 1996. If you smell something heavenly around Campus, you will most likely find Michelle cooking something up for Youth Ministry, a parish event, or special occasion. She began her culinary journey here as the chef for the Friars, and once we all discovered her gift, we made her share with the rest of us! When she is not cooking up something delicious, she is running around, being Super Mom with her three children and working part time here at the community center. She helps to staff Camp Francis during the summer, and over see the 18 and up, Open Play Basketball on Wednesday nights throughout the year!
Some other fun facts… Michelle was a junior member of The American Culinary Federation on Long Island, and competed in cooking competitions!
Jamie’s family has been a part of St. Francis for 11 years. She and her husband, Tyler have been married for 23 years and they have 3 teenagers! AHH! Jamie’s favorite part of her job here at the Community Center is showing hospitality to San Sharbel and helping both Girl and Boy Scouts find a home here.
Some other fun facts… Jamie grew up in Colorado and loves to travel, read and eating great food with her family. Her favorite cuisine is Asian.
Joey is a North Carolina native having lived here all his life and is a graduate of App State! Joey has been on staff at St. Francis since 2009 and has worn many hats in his time working here. He previously worked at TFS as a Bridges staff member, substitute teacher, and a 5th Grade ITA. Now you will find him either working as the Head of TFS Bridges afterschool program or here in the Community Center. You may also see Joey’s wonderful wife, Shannon, working here on campus in the Play and Pray ministry. Joey is a proud father to his 7 year old son! In his spare time Joey enjoys listening to 99.9 (ESPN Radio), running at Lake Lynn, spending time with his wife and son as well as working on his Ebay Business. Joey takes a lot of pride in forming friendships with people from all walks of life (CEO’s to the cleaning crew) and is also very grateful for the friendships he has made working at St. Francis over the years.
A fun fact..Joey’s sister Amy used to Teach Spanish at TFS, but now teaches at Cardinal Gibbons.
Born in Portugal, George has traveled to and lived all over, but has finally settled down here in Raleigh, NC! As super heroes do… by day George works for the Fox Road Magnet School as their Technologist; but by night he is here to ensure that things are set up, running smoothly, and that the people enjoying the many uses of our Community Center are safe. When George is not on the scene here at the Community Center, you may catch him reading fantasy novels, watching James Bond films, or working on his book!
Some other fun facts… George helped to start a children’s shelter in Rio de Janeiro, he once saw a ghost, and has gone swimming with a SHARK!
Community Center Facilities Specialist
Melissa was raised in New Jersey just a few minutes outside New York City by her beloved Grandmother. She grew up living upstairs from her family’s bar and restaurant which was very similar to that of the bar on the television show Cheers, where “everybody knew your name”! After being the first from her immediate family to graduate college, Melissa had the privilege of working at the Center for the Protection of Children in New Jersey where she had an extensive background in Crisis Prevention Intervention training. She and her team helped numerous children find a loving home through the adoption process. Melissa tries to greet each and everyone who enters the café and Community Center. She enjoys meeting all the parishioners, Clergy and volunteers who stop in and visit or work in the café! She gets her 4 star community service experience from her years of working at the Front Desk of a very busy Marriott hotel in New Jersey. When Melissa is not at the café serving coffee and donuts with a smile, she is the devoted President of the Garrett (age 8) and Emily (age 5) Fan Club at home. She is a also the CEO of her household along with her loving husband Dan. Being a Mother has been her biggest joy in life.
Some other fun facts… Melissa loves football season and is a huge New Jersey Giants Fan! What? They play there so that is what she chooses to call them and of course being from New Jersey her favorite band is but of course Bon Jovi.
Community Center Facilities Specialist
Melissa was a preschool teacher at St. Francis Preschool for 16 years prior to “retiring”! When she ran out of things to do at home, she came back to work at the Community Center, helping the staff here any way she can! Melissa currently works with the Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops that meet here at St. Francis. She was a GS troop leader herself (Troop 1140!) and enjoys helping the troops any way she can. She also writes the Community Center Newsletter and updates our bulletin board.
Melissa and her husband Ed have been married for 25 years and have two daughters. Jessica and her husband Jon live in upstate NY, and Kaitlin is currently a student at NC State. Go Wolfpack!
Another fun fact….Melissa grew up in Glens Falls, NY and is a HUGE NY Yankee fan! Her dream is to see a baseball game at every MLB ballpark across the country….someday!
