WELCOME FROM OUR PASTOR

Whether you take a “virtual tour” of our parish on the web, or join us for worship, you will notice that our faith community offers many opportunities to share your time, talent and treasure with others.  Our
mission statement emphasizes this spirituality of stewardship that calls us to be the Body of Christ in the world around us, and to serve the poor who were so dear to the heart of our patron, Francis of Assisi.

In your visit, you may notice that the cornerstone of our church quotes the prophet Isaiah: “My house shall be a house of prayer for all people.” By centering ourselves on Christ through prayer and worship, we hope to manifest a sincerity and warmth that invites all to belong. We strive to be a faith community that is ecumenical, inclusive, collaborative – guided by the social teaching of our Roman Catholic Church that calls us to be “salt and light” for the world in which we live. We believe and strive to practice that here at St. Francis -- all people, regardless of society’s judgment of them, are welcome here.

To enter our sanctuary one must walk through our community’s memorial garden, which is made holy by the presence of the remains of our parish’s deceased and by the names on the wall of remembrance -- a reminder to us each week as we gather to worship our God - - that God is alive -- even in death our God lives.

The warmth of the fire’s hearth in our gathering space reminds us that it is the fire of the spirit which gathers us together. Above the fireplace, the symbols of the evangelists of the Christian Gospels give us the message to go forth and proclaim the love of God to all the ends of the earth -- a message needed all the more in these days.

If you are already a member of our community, perhaps you will learn about new ways to become more involved in the life of our parish. If you are looking for a community of faith to join, I hope you will join us, that together we may stir into flame the spirit of God that lives within us.
