Works of Mercy Almsgiving

During Lent we will be holding collections for various community organizations.  Large canvas collection bins will be located in the Community Center and in the Church Stewardship Center.

February 15 – 21: Feed the Hungry and Drink to the Thirsty
Please pick up a grocery bag Feb. 6/7 on your way out of Mass and bring it back Feb. 13/14 or Feb. 20/21. Volunteers are also needed to collect food donations.  Please sign up here: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/60b054caca62f4-cpofeed.  List of needs:  Cans of vegetables, tuna, chicken, soup, spaghetti sauce, fruit, boxes of cereal, mac and cheese, spaghetti, hamburger/chicken/tuna helper, crackers, instant dry milk, bags of rice and bean, peanut butter, fruit juice, laundry detergent, bathroom tissue, soap diapers (size 4-6), wipes, and milk based formula.

February 22 – 28: Clothe the Naked
Live mercy by embracing this corporal work of mercy – Clothe the Naked.  Simplify your life this Lent in a small way by letting go of extras and clearing away clutter.  Step into the beauty and sacred uncertainty of a life lived trusting God rather than the stash of stuff providing a false sense of security.  Let it go!  We are collecting gently used and new clothing and outerwear of all sizes to support a variety of partner organizations including Catholic Parish Outreach, Note in the Pocket, and Our Lady of the Rosary.  Please drop your donations in the large canvas collection bins located in the Church’s Stewardship Center or the Community Center any time between February 22-28.

February 29 – March 6: Visit the Sick and Imprisoned
It is sometimes easy to forget those who struggle on a daily basis to live lives worthy of their inherent dignity, whether as a result of illness or incarceration. Live mercy and encounter the living God this week by reaching out to these brothers and sisters in need.
From 2/29 – 3/6, we are collecting:
CARDS for our homebound and sick parishioners and friends.  Please sign your cards: Your friend from St. Francis and return to the large canvas collection bins located in the Church’s Stewardship Center or the Community Center
NEW & GENTLY USED BOOKS to donate to prisons in our area.  Devotionals, dictionaries, language books, fiction, business, how-to books as well as African-American studies/fiction books are always welcome. Please drop donations return in the large canvas collection bins located in the Church’s Stewardship Center or the Community Center.
