Dear Brothers and Sisters,

We began this weekend with the celebration of All Saints on Friday and All Souls on Saturday, remembering our beloved who have gone before us marked with the sign of faith.  Saturday evening, we remember in a special way those saints from our own faith community who have been a part of us as the Body   of Christ and now enjoy the heavenly banquet. Let us pray for them that they may rest in peace, and also lift up those who journey through grief, that they may know the consolation of God through our presence and concern. Those who are interested in learning more about the funeral-planning process in the Catholic Church are invited to join me for a workshop, “Now and at the Hour of Our Death”, to be held on Tuesday evening at 7:00 pm in Anthony Hall Room 403, or Wednesday morning at 10:00 am in Padua Room.

This Sunday, November 3, beginning at 12:45 pm (following the 11:30 am Mass), Franciscan School will host an open house. This is for prospective students and their families and also for all parishioners, especially those who are not familiar with this wonderful ministry, which offers academic excellence within the richness of our Catholic faith. Our elementary and middle school will provide tours of our facilities, including our science and technology labs. Franciscan School is committed to living the Gospel message through social justice, action, service, and ministry.

It is the lived mission and charism of the Franciscan tradition and the larger faith community that makes our school truly a special place. Academically, we are committed to educational excellence through the creation of a dynamic, inclusive, and integrated learning community. We offer an innovative approach to curriculum that integrates technology, promotes creativity, encourages artistic expression, and actively engages students through exploration and inquiry. While offering an academically challenging curriculum, we respect that the goal of education is to nurture children to become curious learners for life.

The open house begins in Clare Fellowship Hall and allows for folks to drop in anytime between 12:45 and 2:00 pm.

I hope to see you there.

In the peace of Christ,

Fr. Mark
