Dear Brothers and Sisters,

“Rejoice in the Lord always,” exhorts St. Paul in today’s second reading.  I rejoice in the many parishioners who so generously build up the Body of Christ here at the Catholic Community of St. Francis of Assisi.  Without people like you, we could not accomplish all we do to help build God’s reign among us.

Our Parish Finance Council is dedicated to creating annual budgets that allow our parish to fulfill our mission of Holiness, Hope, and Hospitality while living within our means.  This approach has allowed our parish to use our God given gifts to serve one another and those who are in need while seeing to the operation and maintenance of our campus.  However, I would like to bring to your attention two areas of our budget that could use our additional attention and focus:

  • Building Maintenance – According to our parish maintenance schedule, the church, to include    Anthony Hall and Clare Hall, is due to be painted (wood repair, power washing, caulking, and painting).  In addition, La Verna Center (log house)  also needs to be treated, sealed, and the wood restored.  Expected cost is $75,000.
  • Sound System – As many of you have reported, the sound system in the church is marginal and needs to be replaced.  Although we have begun our preliminary needs assessment and technology review, it remains unfunded in our current budget.  It is expected that a new system will be upwards  of $100,000.

You are generous stewards of our parish.  Thank you!  If you can see your way to making an additional end-of-year gift to the parish, would you consider it?  If you’re able on the memo line of your check please note “year-end gift”.

Again, thank you for all that you do.  Know that we friars, as well as our dedicated staff, lift you and your loved ones up to the Lord that He might continue to bless you and give you peace.

In the peace of Christ,
Fr. Mark
