Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Happy Veteran’s Day to my fellow veterans and thank you for your service to our nation.

Over the past several years in collaboration with the family life and faith formation offices of our parish, we have developing a comprehensive age appropriate pre-K through high school family life (human sexuality) program to support families in discussing and being formed in the teaching of the Catholic Church on issues of human sexuality.  We have been working with Mrs. Mary Ronan, family life educator and author of “Raising Your Children in an Ungodly World.”  Mary is well known here at St. Francis, as she has been a presenter to our student and parent community for the past eight years.  Mary has been a consultant helping us to re-develop a comprehensive program for students in fourth through twelfth grades that reflects the teachings of our Catholic faith in this area. She will be joining us this month to share with parents, teachers, catechists, and students.

All youth in the parish are invited to these sessions held during the school day. If your child attends public school and would like to be at one of the sessions, please RSVP to Martina Dumberger, martina.dumberger@stfrancisraleigh.org. For more information you may view Mary’s website: www.maryronan.org for details of her program and background.  I believe that this program will provide a quality, Catholic approach to family life and human sexuality that also provides a solid partnership between the parish and parents in educating the children about the faith.  In addition to her presentations above, Mary will be speaking after communion at each of the Masses next weekend.

In the peace of Christ,

Fr. Mark
