Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Thank you to the many, many volunteers who supported the celebration of our patron Francis of Assisi at FrancisFest last Sunday under the very capable leadership of Tricia Henry. Despite the inclement weather it was a great time for people of all ages.
This week, we continue our celebration of the feast of St. Francis of Assisi with the publication of our Parish History. 2012 marks the 30-year anniversary of the founding of our parish and our 25-year anniversary as a Franciscan parish. Many of our parishioners have been here since our founding. They will remember many stories in the Parish History. If you are a newcomer or somewhere in between, you will still enjoy reading about our roots and looking through the many photos. I am very grateful to Donna (Foglia) Sink who spent many hours gathering stories, recording interviews, and putting it all together for us. For the dedication of our original sanctuary, Donna wrote “a little summary of how the parish got started.” She continues that good work with our most recent publication. The Parish History will be available in the Stewardship Center. Please pick up a copy (one per household) and enjoy.
Please mark your calendar for our parish kick-off of the Year of Faith with Fr. Ken Himes, O.F.M. speaking in the Church, Sunday evening, October 21.
He currently teaches at Boston College and is a former seminary professor of mine and colleague of Fr. Bill’s. Ken is very engaging, witty, and insightful. You will enjoy his presentation.
In the peace of Christ,
