Dear Brothers and Sisters,

This afternoon, Sunday, September 30 at 1:00 pm in the Founders Room you are invited to join the pastoral leadership of our parish in a Partners-in-Ministry Forum to discuss our mission statement and the future of our Catholic Community.  Though this gathering led by the pastoral council is designed specifically for the ministry leaders of our parish, all are welcome.

This week we celebrate the feast of our patron, beginning with the Transitus Service Wednesday evening, October 3 at 7:30 pm in St. Mary of the Angels Chapel.  The Transitus celebrates the transition of Francis from earthly life to eternal life.  This Saturday morning, October 6 will be our annual blessing of animals at 9:30 am in front of St. Mary of the Angels Chapel.  You’re also all invited to join with Bishop Burbidge as we celebrate the Confirmation of our young people in the gifts of the Holy Spirit at 11:00 am in the church.  And please note our Francis Fest celebration on Sunday, October 7 beginning with an 11:30 am outdoor Mass on our athletic fields.

The pastoral council are the stewards of our mission with the primary ministry of guiding our Catholic Community and ensuring that we are faithful to the mission.  The current vision statement on our bulletin has served as the mission statement of our parish for many years.  Over the past several years, the pastoral council has been working to refine and simplify the mission so that it is short, concise, memorable, and meaningful.  They have done so wonderfully.  Next weekend we will formally publish the mission statement on the cover of our bulletin.  As you reflect upon the two statements, you will notice how our new mission statement is an outgrowth of our former one.

In the peace of Christ,

Fr. Mark
