Dear Brothers and Sisters,

This week several members of our Stewardship Committee and I will be in Chicago to accept the Murphy Award for parish of the year from the International Catholic Stewardship Council for our outstanding work in stewardship formation. We accept this award on your behalf – you who know that everything we have comes ultimately from God.  A good steward receives God’s gifts graciously, nurtures them responsibly, shares them in love and justice, and stands accountable before God.  Thank you for your commitment to stewardship as a way of life.

On Sunday afternoon, September 30 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm the pastoral leaders of our community will gather for a “Partners in Ministry” forum.  This annual gathering offers all of the ministry leaders of our parish an opportunity to come together for fellowship and conversation around the mission, vision, and direction of our parish as guided by our strategic initiative process.  All parishioners are certainly welcome to come and be a part of this town hall style meeting led by the pastoral council.  The agenda will include a discussion of our new mission statement and the meaning of “holiness, hope, and hospitality.”

Thank you to all who participated in the back to school supply drive.  Juanita McNeil from the West End Community Center in Durham expressed they “really appreciate the school supplies we receive on behalf of the center. The supplies were greatly needed and very well accepted by families of this neighborhood!”

In the peace of Christ,

Fr. Mark
