Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Happy Feast Day!  Today we celebrate the feast of the Body and Blood of Christ.  May we become what we receive and go forth into our world to “be witnesses to Christ in all things in the midst of   human society.” (Gaudium et Spes #43)

Recently I received letters expressing thanks and appreciation to us for promoting the ministry of sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Bro. Thomas Cole, O.F.M., Director of the Franciscan Missionary Union wrote:  “On behalf of the missionaries of Holy Name province, I wish to thank you, the parishioners of the Catholic Community of St. Francis of Assisi Parish for your generous gift of $7,494.47.  It is certainly most appreciated.  Thank you for your continued support of the missions.  It is only through your generosity that we are able to continue to support our friars and their partners in their ministries of evangelization and development.  Be assured of our prayers, and those of our missionaries, they count on yours.”

And from Fr. Michael Duffy, O.F.M. a note expressing “thanks so much for your generous donation to our Franciscan Volunteer Ministry Program.  We greatly appreciate your generosity.”

Kim Smolik, Executive Director of Franciscan Mission Service (FMS) thanked us for including    the FMS in a recent bulletin (see June 5bulletin on line).  Kim wrote: “Thank you for your gift of $1000 in support of FMS.  Your contribution will support our next mission class during formation.  We are very excited about the new class of missioners, they bring a range of experiences with them, along with a spirit of service and a readiness to respond to   this special call.”

Thank you for the many ways that you support the work of the gospel through contributions and thank you especially for the ways in which you are the Body of Christ and witnesses to Christ in all things in the midst of our human society!

In the peace of Christ,

Fr. Mark
